Welcome and Introductions

Minutes:

The Chair, Councillor P Hayes, welcomed forum members and 17 members of the public to the area forum at Greenleas Primary School.

 

Robert Gregson was welcomed at his first forum as councillor and thanks were given to Kate Wood and Sue Taylor for all the time they have given to the forum

 

Apologies were noted from Cllr Leah Fraser.

 

2.

Update on 20mph zones

Minutes:

Kate Carpenter gave a presentation on the proposed 20 mph zones for this forum area. Handouts were available giving detailed information and feedback cards could be filled in to give peoples views on the proposed scheme.

Neighbourhood Plan Update

  • What Next/Future Funding

Minutes:

Andy Brannan gave a presentation on the Your Economy and Your Family aspects of the neighbourhood plan consultation and what people said were a priority under these headings.

 

A discussion was held on how the consultation was undertaken and which groups of people contributed to the results in the focus sessions.

 

4.

Partner Updates and Public Question Time

Minutes:

Phil Jennings (Wirral Commissioning Group)

 

Information was given on the progress of the changes being made to the NHS Service and Clinical Commissioning Groups. A discussion followed on which services would be affected, when the work undertaken by Public Health would be under the Local Authority and communication between the WCCG and general public.

 

Action: The WCCG to be more transparent and improve their consultation with people on the changes being made.

 

Merseyside Police

 

Inspectors Kolokotroni and Barratt gave the latest crime statistics for the area, on going priorities for the police and details of their regular Have Your Say meetings. Questions were answered regarding under age drinking and the reporting of hate crimes.

 

Roy Olsen (Merseyside Fire Service)

 

Information was given regarding free smoke alarms and the work being carried out at Wallasey Fire Station

 

Mike Collins (Dog Fouling Team)

 

The Dog Fouling Team has just recruited 5 new members of staff and 151 fixed penalties have been given out across the Borough. A question was answered on who is responsible for dealing with viscous dogs.

 

Public Question Time:

 

Questions were asked on:

 

-The update on the report into the investigations around adult social services. (Cllr Paul Hayes highlighted the fact that the forum did not have a Lead Officer from the Council to answer questions of this level)

-The telephone number for non-emergency calls to the Police is 101 and calls cost 15p per minute.

-Adult Social Services carry out a lot of positive work that goes largely unnoticed as it is difficult trying to promote the good work that is done.

-What is happening with the old Wallasey YMCA building and will it still be available as a community asset (Cllr Pat Hackett will email the resident with an update on this issue)

 

Actions:

-The New Brighton and Wallasey Forum to have a Lead Officer at future meetings to answer high level questions.

 

-Pat Hackett to liaise with the resident who raised the question regarding the use of the old Wallasey YMCA building.
