CONTRACT VARIATION TO THE HEALTHY CHILD PROGRAMME (FOR 0-19 YEARS) TO FUND ADDITIONAL ACTIVITY TO ADDRESS THE CONSEQUENCES OF COVID-19
Decision Maker: Director of Public Health
Decision status: Recommendations approved
Is Key decision?: Yes
Is subject to call in?: No
Purpose:
On the 19th of November 2020, the Adult Social
Care and Public Health Committee authorised the Director of Public
Health to recommission a range of services. Given the nature of
this service, it was agreed that this should be formally authorised
by the Children, Young People and Education Committee, which took
place on the 1st of December 2020. This report provides an update
on the recommissioning process and outcome.
The process has concluded, the tenders received have been fully
evaluated according to Council procurement rules and the Director
of Public Health will take the decision to award the contract to
the successful bidder.
Decision:
Resolved – That additional funding of £195,112 be allocated from the Public Health Grant for activity to address the consequences of Covid-19.
Reasons for the decision:
Alternative options considered:
Undertaking a procurement process to secure this additional support was discounted as services need to be in place as soon as practicable after the start of the 2021-22 academic year.
Not funding additional support presents a risk of not addressing mental and physical health issues presented by our children and young people at the earliest opportunity resulting in longer term problems.
