The Director of Neighbourhoods has approved the award of a contract to UK Productions for a duration of 1 year at a cost of circa £300,000 (calculated as a split of the profit from the box office takings) for the purpose of providing pantomime services to the Floral Pavilion.

To facilitate the 2024 annual pantomime performance at the Floral Pavilion Theatre, to maintain the theatres reputation and the income generated from these productions.
This is a one-year agreement whilst the preparations take place for a formal procurement process to be undertaken to secure this service for the future.

Appendix 1 sets out the details of the process.

The information in Appendix 1 is commercially sensitive and is restricted by virtue of Paragraph 3 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972 as it is ‘Information relating to the financial or business affairs of any particular person (including the authority holding the information).’

Not to deliver the annual pantomime production. This option was rejected as this would incur a financial loss to the Council circa 25% of the venue revenue.

To conduct a competitive tender exercise – This option was rejected due to the uncertainty surrounding the Floral Pavilion the officer resource and time required were not sufficient.
