The Director of Regeneration and Place has
approved the award of a contract to J. Freeley Limited (Company
Number 01719179) to undertake the Demolition and Site Clearance of
Former Co-Op Store at 100 New Chester Road, Premises at 104 –
124 New Chester Road, Woodhead Street Public Convenience and 43
Grove Street, New Ferry, Wirral, CH62 5AX, in accordance with
Procure Partnerships PCR 2015 compliant Framework, Demolition
£50K - £1M, following a single stage competitive
tendering exercise at a contract value of £394,315.00 for a
contract period of 14 weeks.
Reasons for the decision:
A compliant procurement process has been
facilitated in accordance with procure partnerships PCR 2015
compliant framework.
The disused former Co-Op Store at 100 New Chester Road and
properties at 104 – 124 New Chester Road, Public Convenience
at Wood Head Street and Premises at 43 Grove Street New Ferry, have
been vacant for many years and attract regular vandalism. These
buildings are located on two key redevelopment sites which are
required for the delivery of the New Ferry Regeneration Plan. It
will also support the Council’s delivery of housing in
accordance with Policy RA 11 in the draft Local Plan. Planning
approval is in place for 43 new homes on these sites.
This is being funded from the approved capital programme, Strategic
Acquisition Fund for New Ferry.
Alternative options considered:
None considered. This land is required to
support the regeneration of New Ferry and the Council have entered
into a development agreement with its preferred development partner
Regenda, who will redevelop the cleared sites with affordable
housing.
