The Panel considered the report of the Head of Environment and Regulation to propose the revocation of traffic regulation order on Field Road Car Park , New Brighton.

 

A petition had been received containing 575 signatures to object to the

proposal. Key points in support of objections were set out in paragraph 2.5 of the report.

 

Magenta Living who had expressed an interest in developing the site had carried out a ‘door knocking’ exercise to all properties in Field Road and the majority of the properties in the adjacent Sefton Road. It was reported that feedback received from residents in the immediate vicinity had been positive.

 

Mr S Atkins, Parking Services Manager outlined the report and responded to questions from Members of the Panel.

 

Mr A Pritchard, lead petitioner and local resident, made representations to the Panel, on behalf of the petitioners, regarding their objections to the revocation of the Traffic Regulation Order.  He responded to questions from Members of the Panel. 

 

Mr D Doyle, Chairman of the Field Road Action Group addressed the Committee to object to the proposal

 

 Mr K Johnson, on behalf of New Brighton Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, addressed the Committee to object to the proposal.

 

 Mr B Rickett, local resident, addressed the Committee to object to the proposal.

 

Mr M Eynon, from Kenna and Turner Funeral Directors, addressed the Committee to object to the proposal.

 

Mr S Eaves, Assistant Director of Development, Magenta, spoke in favour of the revocation of the Traffic Regulation Order.  He also responded to comments and questions from Members of the Panel. 

 

Members considered all representations made orally and in writing.

 

Resolved – That:

 

(1)  Members note the petition received and officers’ responses; and

 

(2)  Recommend to the Regeneration and Environment Policy and Performance Committee that the proposal to revoke the traffic regulation order on Field Road Car Park be refused.
