Additional documents: Minutes: The Licensing Team Leader explained to the Sub-Committee that a request had been received on behalf of Eureka! Science + Discovery to classify 12 short films which were planned to be shown at their discovery centre in Seacombe, those films not having a British Board of Film Classification (BBFC).
The Sub-Committee Members were provided with a synopsis of each film prior to viewing.
In advance of the meeting the Licensing Authority were advised by Eureka that they no longer intended to show the film titled “The Bins and the Bees” and as such this film was not considered as part of the meeting.
The remaining eleven films were shown to the Sub-Committee Members and they watched each film in turn and then discussed and agreed the classification for each to be used for any viewings of the films in Wirral.
Resolved:
That the film, “Moon Girl”, be given the classification of Universal (‘U’) for any public viewing in Wirral.
Reasons: The Sub-Committee agreed that the content should be subject to U classification. They concluded that the short film only contained very mild references to violence which were felt to be mitigated by the animated context and humorous nature of the film.
Resolved:
That the film “Once Upon a Blue Moon”, be given the classification of U for any public viewing in Wirral.
Reasons: The Sub-Committee agreed that the content should be subject to a U classification. They noted that the animated film showed no signs of harmful or unsuitable content.
Resolved:
That the film “The Little Bird and the Bees”, be given the classification of U for any public viewing in Wirral.
Reasons: The Sub-Committee agreed that the content should be subject to a U classification. They noted that any threatening behaviour in the short film was done humorously and in the context of the animated film.
Resolved:
That the film “The Little Bird and the Caterpillar”, be given the classification of U for any public viewing in Wirral.

Resolved:
That the film, “Getting to the Moon”, be given the classification of PG for any public viewing in Wirral.
Reasons: The Sub-Committee agreed, after a vote resulting in a two to one decision, that the content should be subject to PG classification. They concluded that parts of the short film contained dangerous activities which may be copied by young children and that could potentially influence a young audience if parental guidance was not in place.
Resolved:
That the film, “Cat and Bird”, be given the classification of U for any public viewing in Wirral.
