Item 1 - INDEPENDENT MEMBERS
Summary:
To report the appointment of, and to introduce, the two new independent members that were appointed by the Council on the recommendation of the members' panel: Mr Brian Cummings and Mr Kenneth Harrison. Both have signed their declaration of acceptance of office.
Item 2 - APPOINTMENT OF CHAIR
Summary:
To appoint a Chair for the remainder of this municipal year, and, if required, a Vice-Chair.
Item 3 - DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST
Summary:
The members of the Committee are asked to consider whether they have a personal or prejudicial interest in connection with any of the items on this agenda and, if so, to declare it and state the nature of such interest.
Item 4 - MINUTES
Summary:
The minutes of the previous meeting, held on 25 September, were accepted by the Council on 29 October.
Recommendation:
That the minutes be received
Item 5 - MATTERS ARISING
Summary:
To consider any matters arising out of the minutes that are not dealt with elsewhere on the agenda.
Item 6 - LOCAL GOVERNMENT OMBUDSMAN - COMPLAINTS - ACTION PLAN AND CURRENT PERFORMANCE
Summary:
This report accompanies the Action Plan for improving response times for complaints made to the Local Government Ombudsman and advises members of current performance in this area.
Recommendation:
(1) That the Committee approve the Action Plan appended to the report.
(2) That the Committee receive further reports on progress and performance.

Item 7 - CODE OF CONDUCT
Summary:
As requested at the last meeting, a transcript of the Standards Board's DVD "The Code Uncovered" has been prepared (attached) and arrangements are being made to ensure that all members have an opportunity to view the DVD.

Item 8 - EXEMPT INFORMATION - EXCLUSION OF MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC
Summary:
The following item contains exempt information.
Recommendation:
That, under section 100 (A) (4) of the Local Government Act 1972, the public be excluded from the meeting during consideration of the following item of business on the grounds that it involves the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined by the relevant paragraphs of Part I of Schedule 12A (as amended) to that Act.
Item 9 - STANDARDS BOARD DECISION NOTICE - Exempt
