Item 5 - REVIEW OF CULTURAL SERVICES


Summary:

This report provides a summary of the reviews undertaken during 2006/07 and an update on the production of a Strategic Forward Plan for Cultural Services.


Recommendation:

The Committee is asked to consider what further reports it requires as part of the future agenda and a continuation of the review of Cultural Services.

Item 6 - WIRRAL TOURISM STRATEGY - IMPLEMENTATION PLAN UPDATE


Summary:

This Implementation Plan progress report updates the Committee on work completed between April and June 2007. It follows the more strategic approach taken to market Wirral’s tourism offer, and so help ensure long-term project sustainability. Cabinet approved a more robust and transparent Action Plan last year, and this is now helping to monitor and evaluate the needs of tourism businesses, as well as existing and potential visitors to Wirral.


Recommendation:

That the Committee note and support the contents of this update report.

Item 7 - YEAR END PERFORMANCE MONITORING REPORT - TOURISM AND MARKETING DIVISION


Summary:

The purpose of this report is to inform the Committee of the year end performance of the Tourism and Marketing Division within Corporate Services.


Recommendation:

That the Committee note the year end performance for the Tourism and Marketing Division.

Item 8 - DEPARTMENT OF REGENERATION – 2006/07 YEAR END REPORT


Summary:

The purposes of this report is to outline the performance of the Regeneration Department at year end and to ask the Committee to endorse the priorities the Department is proposing for the next monitoring period.


Recommendation:

That the Committee note the performance of the Department between April 2006 and March 2007 and endorse the priorities for service delivery for the next financial year.

Item 9 - PARK MANAGEMENT PLANS


Summary:

This report provides members with the opportunity to scrutinise draft park management plans for Ashton Park, Flaybrick Memorial Gardens, Royden Park and Victoria Park.

Item 10 - YOUTH PARLIAMENT


Summary:

This report summarises the issues raised by young people at the Youth Parliament in October 2006 relating to Cultural Services facilities and asks members to agree a response which will be reported to a formal feedback session in July 2007.


Recommendation:

(1) The comments of members are requested on the topics raised by young people at the Youth Parliament which will be reported to the feedback day on 11th July 2007.

(2) That the Committee support the establishment of a focus group for young people to discuss topics related to leisure and cultural provision and report to this and other appropriate committees.

Item 11 - APPROVAL OF TENDERS UNDER DELEGATED AUTHORITY


Summary:

The purpose of this report is to inform the Committee, in accordance with the ‘Approved Scheme of Delegation’, under Contract Procedure Rule 13.2 (b) of those instances where delegated authority has been used by the Director of Regeneration with respect to the acceptance of tenders.

That the report be noted.
