The Mayor referred to his visit to the Council's Call Centre to thank staff for the work they were undertaking.
Prayers were conducted by the Reverend Peter Foster.
Minute 19 - DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST

The members of the Council were invited to consider whether they had a personal or prejudicial interest in connection with any matter to be debated at the meeting and, if so, to declare it and state the nature of such interest. No interests were declared.

The Mayor received petitions submitted by -
(a) Councillor Pat Williams on behalf of 90 signatories requesting a 20 mph speed limit in Oxton village;
(b) Councillor Harry Smith on behalf of 20 signatories requesting the reatment of railings and ledges to deter vandals in Gilbrook Square, Birkenhead;
(c) Councillor Sheila Clarke on behalf of 38 signatories requesting the removal of 'No Ball Games' sign in Withert Avenue, Higher Bebbington;
(d) Councillor Sheila Clarke on behalf of 75 signatories requesting controls on the car parking in the vicinity of the shops in Broadway, Higher Bebbington;
(e) Councillor Sheila Clarke on behalf of 94 signatories objecting to a planning application for a telecommunications mast at Total Garage, Kings Road, Bebington;
(f) Councillor Sheila Clarke on behalf of 89 signatories objecting to a licensing application (hours of opening) for the King's Arms Hotel, Bebington;
(g) Councillor Don Prout on behalf of 44 signatories requesting the resurfacing of the road at Meadowside, Leasowe;
(h) Councillor Tony Pritchard on behalf of 15 signatories requesting residents-only parking restictions in Greenbank Avenue, New Brighton'
(i) Councillor Chris Blakeley on behalf of 411 signatories requesting the re-opening of Moreton Common to allow access by vehicles;
(j) Councillor Bill Duffey on behalf of 35 signatories requesting action to evict a problem family in Wentworth Avenue, New Brighton; and
(k) Councillor David Elderton on behalf of 50 signatories requesting an improved bus service to serve the area of Ramsey Court and Sandy Lane, Caldy.

Resolved - That the petitions be noted and referred to the appropriate chief officer in accordance with Standing Order 34.

The Council was asked to accept that nominations in respect of any remaining vacancies be submitted in writing to the Head of Legal and Members Service and that they be taken as approved.
