Item 1 - DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST
Summary:
Members of the Committee are requested to declare any interest they may have, either personal or prejudicial, in any of the items on the agenda and, if so, to declare them and state what they are.
Members are reminded that they should also declare, pursuant to paragraph 18 of the Overview and Scrutiny Procedure Rules, whether they are subject to a party whip in connection with any item(s) to be considered and, if so, to declare it and state the nature of the whipping arrangement.
Item 2 - MINUTES
Summary:
To receive the minutes of the meeting of the Corporate Services Overview and Scrutiny Committee held on 6 June which were received by Council on 16 July, 2007.
Item 3 - COMMITTEE WORK PROGRAMME 2007-08
Summary:
At the 6th June 2007 meeting of Corporate Services Overview and Scrutiny Committee discussion took place about the Committee’s work programme for the coming year. It was agreed that the Committee work programme for 2007/08 should focus on the issues :
(i) Communications (internal and external)
(ii) Staff Retention
(iii) Accommodation Strategy & Asset Management
The Director of Corporate Services was asked to bring a scoping report to the next Committee on these three topics. This report deals with progress on this matter.
Recommendation:
That this work programme be agreed.

Item 4 - PRESENTATION ON COMMUNICATIONS
Summary:
The Director of Corporate Services will give a presentation on this item.
Item 5 - FIRST QUARTER PERFORMANCE MONITORING REPORT - APRIL/JUNE 2007-2008
Summary:
The purpose of this report is to provide members with an overview of performance, at the first quarter, of those indicators that are reported for the Corporate Policy, Human Resources, Legal & Member Services and Transformational Change sections of the Corporate Services Department. This report also includes summary financial information. Further detailed information is contained within the financial monitoring report for the same period, which will be reported in September 2007.
Recommendation:
That members note the performance at the first quarter.

Item 6 - CORPORATE SERVICES DEPARTMENT - FINANCIAL MONITORING
Summary:
This is one of a series of reports submitted throughout the year to highlight the financial performance of the Corporate Services Department.
Recommendation:
(1) Members are asked to note the content of the report.
(2) That a further report be submitted to the next meeting of this Committee.

Item 7 - CORPORATE SERVICES DEPARTMENT - CAPITAL PROGRAMME MONITORING
Summary:
As part of the process of improving financial and performance planning, this report provides a regular update on the Corporate Services Capital Programme.
Recommendation:
(1) Members are asked to note the contents of the report.
(2) That a further report be submitted to the next meeting of this Committee.

Item 8 - PROPOSED SAVINGS
Summary:
Cabinet at its meeting on 6 September proposed a number of savings for consideration by the Council in October. The Leader of the Council has requested that the savings be considered by the relevant overview and scrutiny Committee prior to the Council meeting. The Cabinet minute on the proposed savings will be circulated as soon as it is available.
Item 9 - ANY OTHER URGENT BUSINESS
Summary:
To consider any other business that the Chair accepts as urgent.
