The report of the Director of Children’s Services states that since March 2012, Support Services for Governors in schools has been provided via a shared service with four local authorities, Wirral, Warrington, Halton and Cheshire East. After consultation with all interested parties it has been agreed that the standard of training, support, advice and other services previously provided to Wirral Governors has not been maintained or enhanced. Therefore, in the absence of alternative arrangements from the current provider the proposal is to end the current agreement and to bring all elements of the support services for governors back to Wirral with effect from April 2014 and to consider other partnership opportunities.

Resolved –

(1)  That, to formally terminate the shared service agreement, the contract to provide Governor Training as a shared service led by Cheshire East be ended on 31 March 2014 or earlier, if agreed.

(2)  That options for future governor support services be evaluated and form the basis of a future report.
