Minutes:

On a motion by Councillor Davies, seconded by Councillor Jones, it was –

 

Resolved – That Councillor Bridson take the Chair for this meeting.

Exempt Information - Exclusion of Members of the Public

The public may be excluded from the meeting during consideration of the following item of business on the grounds that it involves the likely disclosure of exempt information.

 

Minutes:

Resolved - That, under section 100(A)(4) of the Local Government Act 1972, the public be excluded from the meeting during consideration of the following item of business on the grounds that it involves the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined by paragraph 1 of Part I of Schedule 12A (as amended) to that Act.

Grievance Appeal

To determine the grievance appeal of a member of the Technical Services Department.

Minutes:

The Sub-Committee considered a grievance appeal from an employee in the Technical Services Department. The appellant was represented by Mr Geoff Bradfield of UNISON and the Department was represented by Jim Lester, Head of Cultural Services.

 

Resolved - That, having considered carefully all the evidence, the Appeals Sub-Committee reached the following conclusions:

 

(1) That Mr Lester had dealt properly with the appellant’s grievance and that he had taken the appropriate action to redress the appellant’s grievances insofar as it lay within his powers to do so.

 

(2) That an apology be issued to the appellant in respect of management failings identified in the Sub-Committee’s findings of fact.
