Welcome and Apologies

Minutes:

Cllr Tom Harney and Cllr Pat Williams nominated Cllr Tony Smith as Chair person for Committee.  It was noted that young people will continue to have the opportunity to chair future meetings.

Head of Service Report pdf icon PDF 2 MB

Minutes:

 

  Lindsay Davidson presented the Head of Service Report.

 

  Cllr Tony Smith suggested that a report be sent to the new Police and Crime Commissioner to highlight crime reduction in the Stronger Communities Initiative area.  Caroline Laing told the meeting that an evaluation report is being prepared within the Integrated Youth Support Service. 

 

  Cllr Tom Harney stated that positive non-verbal communication should be addressed and encouraged with young people.  Lindsay Davidson to find out what work is being done within the Service.

 

  Cllr Pat Williams stated it was welcoming to see references to healthy eating programmes.  Caroline Laing reported on the delivery of healthy refreshment bars within Council-run youth and play units and on the Kontactabuses and the importance of enabling both staff and young people to attend food hygiene courses.

 

  Cllr Paul Hayes enquired about young people’s attendance at Area Forums.  Maureen McDaid reported that officers are working on ways to enable more young people to attend.

 On the Youth Participation Calendar. Cllr Tom Harney welcomed

 the Participation Calendar and requested it be extended to 2014.

Minutes:

  Steve Chan presented report.

 

  Cllr Povall asked about potential sessions for the Brookhurst Estate.  Steve Chan explained that work with children and young people in that area had previously been delivered by the Play Rangers funded by the BIG Lottery.  Steve Chan will liaise with Wirral Play Council regarding the possibility of future summer sessions.
