Welcome and Apologies

Minutes:

Cllr Tony Smith introduced Daniel and handed over the chairing of the meeting.  Daniel introduced the meeting and all attendees introduced themselves.

Lindsay Davidson presented the Head of Service Report

 

Cllr Tony Smith asked how young people are identified for the LADS and GIRLS Project.

Mark Newman responded that young people are identified through the Gateway referral process and young people currently known to the Youth Support Service and partner agencies.  Cllr Phil Gilchrist commented additional funding was granted from the South West constituency which enabled additional young men to attend a residential weekend.

 

The Flaybrick Cemetery incident and follow up work was highlighted, young people and agencies worked in partnership to clean up the cemetery.

 

Cllr Gilchrist requested an update on the temporary closure of Fender Youth Club

Mark Newman informed the committee that, while the club is closed, outreach youth work is being delivered on the Woodchurch Estate and this has been successful in engaging with young people and local community and volunteers, for benefit of young people. Cllr Smith commented that the engagement of adults was positive, which indicates a community investment in the youth club.

 

Cllr Williams requested more information on KIDSTIME and Caron Drucker provided greater detail on the project.

ALUMNI PROJECT-Creative Youth Development-Presentation

Minutes:

A film was shown to the meeting which was used on the Alumni presentation evening at Pilgrim Street. Cllr Meaden commented on the success of the Alumni Presentation night.

Youth Voice Conference-Presentation

Minutes:

Daniel introduced Lindsay Davidson to present a presentation illustrating the Youth Voice Conference 2014

Wirral Summer Holiday Playschemes 2014 Report pdf icon PDF 119 KB

Minutes:

Report and power point presentation by Steve Chan on the summer holiday playscheme programme provided by Wirral Play Council.

 

Daniel handed the chair back to Cllr Smith who thanked him for chairing the meeting.

 

 

16.

Any Other Business

Minutes:

Cllr Gilchrist questioned the public consultation process and how children and young people were involved in the process and how the information is collated.  Cllr Meaden reported that numbers of consultation returns were handed into herself at Wallasey Town Hall.  Lindsay Davidson reported that a number of paper copies had been provided for children, young people and their families to complete.

 

Cllr Smith thanked all officers, young people and councillors for attending.
