The Civic Mayor announced that apologies had been received from Councillors Wendy Clements, Tony Cox, Sam Frost, Emily Gleaves, Karl Greaney, Orod Osanlou and Chris Spriggs.

The Council is requested to consider a report of the Chief Executive (Returning Officer) in respect of a proposed change to the current electoral cycle from elections by thirds to whole Council elections.

The Council considered a report from the Returning Officer on a proposed change to the current Electoral Cycle from elections by thirds to Whole Council Elections.

 

Councillor Janette Williamson moved the recommendation as in the report, and following a debate, Councillor Tom Anderson having spoken to second the motion and Councillor Williamson having replied, it was –

 

Resolved (50:7) (One abstention) – That Council formally resolves to move to Whole Council Elections commencing at the Local Authority Election scheduled for May 2023.
